Diving through seaweed

I went with two friends from our Middleton Writers’ Group to the beach at Middleton earlier this week. We went body boarding and surfing.

One of those perefect days – a northerly breeze, warmer warter, sunny and cloudy. A decent swell.

And lots and lots of seaweed. On the beach, and in the sea, clumps of it.

We hesitated about going in but decided to ‘sally forth’ into the waves.
Of course, for Dudley and I it was an opportunity to throw seaweed at each other; for Jude, a chance to pass us by on her body board, her face serene, beautiful, so elegant in her water element.

It turned out great fun.

Enjoying the sea, enjoying the how it is, is how it is.

I love poetry, writing, especially writing as healing, as touching the sacred, being touched. And place, places dreaming us, us them. Coasts, rivers, canyons; the ordinary things too, the small things, gestures that reach out.
