Water Days & the Coorong

After months of dry weather, and a stalled winter, in the last few weeks there’s been a lot of rain. More dams are full. The Murray River will have extra flow. The Coorong may yet survive the years of drought and up-river wrangles over water allocations. Why isn’t there a national policy to deal with water shortages and water allocations?
The River carries not only water but people’s memories, the Coorong a place of Dreaming, water birds, sand dunes, others’ lives.

About bydda88

I love poetry, writing, especially writing as healing, as touching the sacred, being touched. And place, places dreaming us, us them. Coasts, rivers, canyons; the ordinary things too, the small things, gestures that reach out.
