River Bends

Still enough volume and flow in the Hindmarsh River here in Victor Harbor to reach the sea. Just. But it is summer and only a few days off Christmas. I love the way this small river bends and curves, like little sweeps of pleasure, cheeky, resolute. Sometimes there will be a penguin or two on the shoreline on the lookout for fish and wary of the unwanted attention of dogs.

Last week’s sudden burst of rain gave new life to this narrow river. What gives new life to our lives?

About bydda88

I love poetry, writing, especially writing as healing, as touching the sacred, being touched. And place, places dreaming us, us them. Coasts, rivers, canyons; the ordinary things too, the small things, gestures that reach out.
